M. A. Pioro
Painting, Collage, Assemblage
M. A. Pioro is a British artist living and working in London. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and works across several genres and media, including oil painting, collage and assemblage, "art in boxes" and "portable installations", often blurring the boundaries between techniques to make work that resists easy classification.
In her own words:
"By training and temperament I am a painter, but over the years I started incorporating in my paintings paper and small objects, gradually moving to making assemblage and 3D work. I use found objects or their fragments purely for their visual potential and I rarely seek a story; if a story does emerge it is mostly rather accidental. Sometimes, however, the story is there from the start, determined by the choice of a primary object, as it is in works like the Cage, The Narrator or Russian Barbie.
I painted my first Italian landscape in 2005 and it has been an inspiration for the last twenty years."
Her work is held in private collections in England, Holland, Poland, Italy, France and the USA.
