Andrea Varotto

Andrea Varotto's work navigates the delicate balance between nature and abstraction, between contemplation and reflection. Through the exploration of light, movement, stillness, colour, order and chaos, she seeks to capture that profound connection we share with the natural world: a vital force that pulses within every living being.

Nature has always been her greatest inspiration. She feels an innate connection to its energy, colours and vibrancy, and channels that essence into her work, bringing it to life on canvas.

While her creative practice is rooted in intuition and emotion, her background as an industrial engineer adds a distinctive dimension. The renowned Argentine artist and teacher Sergio Bazan once told her he could see her "engineering side" in the paintings, particularly in the precision with which she constructs colour compositions. The balance, or intentional imbalance, in her work reflects the analytical part of her mind, blending structure with spontaneity.

For Varotto, painting is a journey. She may start with a specific trigger, but then she must dance with the painting, listening to what it wants, allowing it to guide her. Music plays a crucial role in this process, transporting her to another frequency where she can connect with something beyond herself.

Varotto trained at the Art Students League of New York and at Fundacion Cazadores in Buenos Aires, with mentors including Sergio Bazan, Manuel Amestoy, Agustina Nunez, Ernesto Pesce and Ariel Mlynarzewicz. She holds an Industrial Engineering degree from the University of Buenos Aires, a postgraduate degree in Marketing from Universidad de San Andres, and an MBA from Fordham University in New York.
