Ana Benavides
Painter
Ana Benavides is a Mexican painter based in London. With a background in
marketing and advertising and a Master's degree in Painting from the Royal
College of Art, her practice explores the materialisation of internal
emotional states, focusing on what stays unspoken, unresolved or hard to
put into words.
Through gesture, layering and colour, Benavides turns moments of
vulnerability, tension and introspection into visual form. Her paintings
work as spaces of encounter, inviting the viewer to face emotional states
that are often hidden or held back.
Rather than telling a story, the work functions as a sensory and
psychological experience, letting the invisible parts of human emotion
come to the surface.
