About the Course
In this workshop, participants will design and paint their own illuminated artwork inspired by nature.
Participants will be encouraged to consider how they personally see, remember, or experience the natural world and translate these impressions into colour, shape, line, pattern, and imagery.
Each participant will paint directly onto a prepared acrylic board designed to fit into an existing LED light base. The LED lamp itself is pre-made; participants will focus on designing and painting
the interchangeable acrylic display board rather than constructing an electrical lamp.
Through guided experimentation with composition, colour, and acrylic painting techniques,
participants will transform the transparent surface into a personalised illuminated artwork.
At the end of the session, participants will be able to take home their completed LED light-board
artwork.

Your Instructor
Yula Kim
Yula Kim is a London-based contemporary painter and creative educator with experience across
exhibitions, public art programmes, and creative projects. Her professional experience includes
projects and events connected with institutions including Tate Modern Lates, the Science Museum,
the Coronation Concert, and Kingston Museum.
As both a practising artist and educator, Yula has extensive experience working with a wide range of
traditional art materials and techniques, from pencil and observational drawing to watercolour,
acrylic, and painting.
Her teaching also draws on contemporary approaches to visual art, encouraging participants to move
beyond technical skills and explore personal expression in creative imagination, traditional art and
contemporary art approaches, character development, and visual storytelling.
Her workshops are designed to make art approachable for beginners while giving participants the
freedom to experiment, develop their own ideas, and discover an individual way of making art.
